The SAMRO Music Bursaries are the most substantial awards in music study in Southern Africa. Bursaries are open to citizens of South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland. Applicants should be registered for a music degree/ diploma at a South African University in 2015. Applications will only be accepted once students have proof of registration for 2015.

 

The following bursaries are on offer:

1. General Music Study: Western Art / Jazz  / African Indigenous Music genres (R10 000 each)available to students in their 2nd years

2. Music Education OR Community Music Study (R10 000 each) available to students majoring in of these specialized courses in their 3rd and 4th years

3. Music Technology (R10 000 each) available to students majoring in music technology in their 3rd and 4th years

4. Performance Study: Western Art / Jazz / African Indigenous Music genres (R10 000 each) available to students majoring in performance study in their 3rd and 4th years

5. Composition Study (R10 000 each) available to students majoring in music composition in their 3rd, 4th and postgraduate years

6. Indigenous African Music Research (R10 000 each) for post-graduate research students at Honours, Masters or Doctoral level. All SAMRO Music Bursary Application
