FUNERAL BENEFIT SCHEME
In addition to the royalty income that SAMRO pays to its composers from the use of their music by licensed users, SAMRO provides its composers with a Retirement Annuity Fund and has done so since 1969. In 1998, the SAMRO Funeral Benefit Scheme was added to its Benefits Programme to assist composers with the burdensome costs associated with funeral arrangements.

SAMRO RETIREMENT ANNUITY FUND (SRAF):
The SAMRO Retirement Annuity Fund was established in 1969 for members of SAMRO. The Fund is a separate legal entity registered by the Registrar of Pension Fund’s and is administered by a specialist retirement fund administration company (Robson Savage (Pty) Ltd). Every person who has been accepted as a member of SAMRO automatically qualified for membership of the SAMRO Retirement Annuity Fund. Contributions are made annually to the Fund on behalf of every member who earned royalties in Southern Africa in any particular year by SAMRO. Contributions are invested by the fund to accumulate retirement capital for each member.
Members may retire from the Fund at any time between the ages of 55 and 75. Please refer to the Retirement Information Pamphlet for more information about your options at retirement and the process to claim your retirement benefits. Members who are totally and permanently incapacitated to perform their normal occupation due to ill health, may apply for ill health early retirement before age 55.
Members are encouraged to complete a Beneficiary Nomination Form, which assists the trustees with identifying your dependants and beneficiaries of your benefit in the Fund in the event of your death. A copy of the Beneficiary Nomination Form can be found under the documents section and the completed form must be faxed or emailed to SAMRO.
