Death by Misadventure or DbyM (pronounced dee-by-em) is a 2-piece electronic dance outfit made up of producer/songwriting team Isaac Klawansky and Tamara Dey.

The couple live with each other in Johannesburg and have been making music together in their home studio since 2010.  They describe their sound as alternative electronica with influences ranging from hip-hop and electro to pop and techno.

Fascinated by the excess of human nature, they’ve called their act Death by Misadventure. The pairs’ unique dynamic resonates through songs driven by soaring dance synth lines and Tamara’s moving vocals. Their debut album ‘Dumb Dumb’, signed to SA indie label Just Music, came about almost accidentally in the spare bedroom of their flat in Craighall Park and was later co-produced and mixed by acclaimed Pretoria based musician and producer Peach van Pletzen at Sleeproom Studios.

The cherry on top was having the album mastered by LA based mastering engineer Dave Cooley at Elisian Masters, who has worked with some of the bands greatest influences including The Presets and M83. Fans can expect to dance to powerful, soulful and intimate live performances with visuals, strobe lighting, live synths, triggered samples and beautifully effected vocals. ‘Dumb Dumb’ was released on iTunes on April 29th 2013.
